About
Jennifer Lydon (she/her) is a dance educator, teaching artist and choreographer from Pittsburgh. She is a an adjunct dance faculty member at Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts, 6-12 (CAPA). She started dancing at Thomas Dance Studio at the age of two and continued as a dance minor at Otterbein University, where her love for theater jazz blossomed. As a dancer, performance accolades include debuting an original piece of choreography for Jeff Shade, being a founding member of rEvolve Dance Theater, and performing as a backup dancer for Salt-N-Pepa. In college, she studied under Randy Skinner, Dan Knechtges and Stella Hiatt Kane, assisting Kane with the University's production of West Side Story. After graduation Jennifer started her professional dance career with Royal Caribbean International and eventually became Rehearsal Choreographer and Director over her 13 years with the company. As a guest artist with Attack Theatre, she dipped her toe back into the Pittsburgh dance scene, where she's excited to call home again. Most recently, Jennifer had the privilege of being rehearsal director for Levi Marsman's reproduction of "Round and Round We Go" for CAPA's Celebrating Black Dance concert. Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to every class and rehearsal, encouraging dancers to have fun with storytelling and subtlety through her movement.
